Secondary Screening WDS utilizes non-ionizing imaging radar technology for weapons screening of bags, boots and lower legs with real-time imaging workflows.
The new system was created to help organizations improve alarm resolution workflows after alerts occur at primary screening checkpoints, such as walkthrough weapons detection systems or AI-assisted X-ray baggage screening equipment.
The Secondary Screening WDS is designed to reduce reliance on manual pat-downs, handheld wand searches and invasive bag checks.
Athena says this helps deliver a faster, more dignified screening experience for both officers and visitors.
“We built this system because we kept hearing the same challenge from security teams: the primary screening alert is just the beginning,” said Chris Ciabarra, Co-Founder and CTO of Athena Security.
“What happens next – the secondary resolution – is where most facilities are still stuck in the past.
“The Secondary Screening WDS gives officers real-time imaging so they can act with precision, speed and dignity.”
