Axis Communications has announced the release of three multidirectional cameras that the company says offer four streams at up to 4K per channel.

According to the company, the cameras are ideal for wide area surveillance, including day/night functionality and 360° infrared (IR) illumination for clear, reflection-free footage and excellent image quality even in low light or complete darkness.

Multidirectional cameras

Axis claims that the AXIS P3735-PLE delivers 4*2 MP at 30 fps per channel, the AXIS P3737-PLE delivers 4*5 MP at 20 fps per channel, while the AXIS P3738-PLE delivers 4*4K at 15 fps per channel.

These compact cameras can be recess mounted for discreet surveillance or mounted in ceilings for complete 360° coverage. When mounted on corners, they offer 270° coverage.

Featuring a tamper-resistant casing and integrated IP66-/IP67-rated weather shield, Axis says that they’re protected against rain, snow and sunlight – ideal for outdoor wall mounting.

In addition, all four varifocal camera heads can be moved and rotated to provide the optimal field of view depending on specific needs.

Built on ARTPEC-8, these high-performance multidirectional cameras feature a deep learning processing unit eliminating the need for expensive servers and allowing for a faster and more scalable system.

The company says that it’s possible to run metadata and AXIS Object Analytics streams on multiple channels to detect and classify people and vehicles, for instance entering a user-defined area.

Key features

Axis highlights that some of the key features of the cameras include:

  • Every angle at up to 4*4K
  • 360° IR illumination with individually controlled LEDs
  • Flexible mounting options
  • Support for advanced analytics
  • Axis Edge Vault safeguards device

“These panoramic cameras offer highly efficient market-leading energy consumption compared to multiple single-sensor cameras – even with IR enabled,” the company said in a statement.

“Furthermore, they include Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform that safeguards the device and protects sensitive information from unauthorized access.”
