Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that Royal Canadian Navy vessels will be deployed off the coast of Haiti in the coming weeks, as new reports say.
As outlined by Reuters, the vessels will conduct surveillance alongside Canadian aircraft sent last month, which were dispatched to address the security situation in the country and support the Haitian National Police. The vessels will not intercept migrants.
“We are working closely together to help,” Trudeau said at a conference in the Bahamas for the Caribbean bloc.
At the conference, Trudeau also announced sanctions on two unnamed individuals from the country for gang involvement.
