Corsight AI has recently introduced a new module as part of its broader retail security suite that is designed to tackle specific incidents in physical stores.
According to the company, a particularly challenging form of employee theft in retail stores is “sweethearting”, where employees discreetly provide free items to friends or family, often without detection by standard store systems.
This fraud typically involves bypassing scans, issuing false refunds or misusing employee discounts to benefit unauthorized individuals.
The new Sweethearting Module from Corsight AI is designed to specifically combat this issue, enabling stores to detect and prevent sweethearting incidents.

Kai Mizrahi, Corsight AI’s Vice President of Product, explained: “Our platform analyzes patterns of interaction between employees and customers, identifying high-frequency or unusual interactions that might signal suspicious activity.
“These flagged videos are then reviewed by security teams, which in many cases reveal sweethearting instances where cashiers assist customers in taking unpaid merchandise.”
