Databuoy Corporation has announced the commercial launch of integrated license plate recognition (LPR) capabilities within its Shotpoint gunshot detection platform.
According to the company, the LPR enhancement enables customers to automatically capture, buffer and analyze vehicle activity surrounding deployments, delivering critical plate data and video evidence to public safety teams.
“Many of our customers are interested in adding LPR to the suite of cameras that we integrate with,” said Kathleen Griggs, CEO of Databuoy.
“This integration is another example of the many types of applications our edge technology can support.”
This LPR technology operates at the edge and can be used independently or serve to provide additional information when a gunshot is located.
The company highlights that edge devices monitor local traffic, maintaining a rolling cache to preserve license plate and travel direction data in the event of a gunshot.
Gunshot events detected by Shotpoint are automatically linked with LPR data and associated video, consolidating all evidence into a single, time-stamped investigative record.
The LPR module is also compatible with ONVIF-compliant and RTSP cameras, allowing for rapid deployment in various environments.
