ZeroEyes has announced that its proactive gun detection and situational awareness solution has been deployed by Elkhorn Public Schools (EPS) in Nebraska.
The introduction of the solution will protect students, teachers, visitors and staff against gun-related threats.
Elkhorn Public Schools
Elkhorn Public Schools is a growing K-12 district that educates over 11,000 students annually.
With 20 school buildings and two new facilities set to open during the next school year, the district is dedicated to accommodating its growing student population.
As part of its commitment to ensuring a secure learning environment, the district has deployed ZeroEyes as the latest addition to its comprehensive, multi-layered security approach.
“Underscores the reliability”
Brian Kempf, Director of School Safety and Security, Elkhorn Public Schools commented: “Our camera systems have always been valuable for post-incident investigations but with the integration of ZeroEyes’ solution as a force multiplier, we’re transforming them into a proactive safety solution.
“This not only optimizes our existing resources, but also gives us the confidence to reassure our students, staff and families that our cameras are actively working to protect them.”
Kempf continued: “Furthermore, ZeroEyes’ Safety Act designation underscores the reliability and rigor of the technology, providing peace of mind that we are implementing a solution that has comprehensively proven its effectiveness.”
ZeroEyes solution
ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness software layers onto EPS’s existing digital security cameras.
If a gun is identified, images are instantly shared with the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC) which is staffed 24/7 by military and law enforcement veterans.
If the experts determine that the threat is valid, they dispatch alerts and actionable intelligence, including visual description, gun type and last known location to first responders and school staff as quickly as three to five seconds from detection.
“Prioritize education over constant safety concerns”
Mike Lahiff, CEO and Co-Founder, ZeroEyes commented: “The cornerstone of every school’s mission is to foster a challenging and enriching academic environment that empowers students with the knowledge and skills to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
“By integrating ZeroEyes, schools can shift their focus back to that core mission, allowing them to prioritize education over constant safety concerns.
“I applaud Elkhorn Public Schools for making the safety of its students a top priority, creating a secure environment where learning can truly thrive,” Lahiff concluded.
