Ryan Schonfeld, Co-Founder & CEO, HiveWatch tells Security Journal Americas how the company helps security leaders to become more proactive.

Can you tell me about your role at HiveWatch?

It has evolved over the years as we’ve added more people, but as Co-Founder & CEO, I set the vision and strategy for the company, build and lead the core team, represent the company to stakeholders (and our Board of Directors) and as a founder-led start-up, I also have a hand in a lot of sales discussions with prospects.

We’re a typical start-up, which means we all wear multiple hats and I “go where needed.”

I’m fortunate in that as we’ve grown, there are a lot of amazing leaders who have jumped in to manage day-to-day operations so that I can focus on big-picture decisions and strategy across the organization.

How does HiveWatch help to make security more proactive?

While many organizations have security programs in place, a lot of them are purely reactive. Guards to respond when something goes wrong, footage to review when there’s been an incident, etc.

With HiveWatch, teams are able to be proactive – and see something before it becomes an incident. This can be incredibly difficult for large organizations with thousands of locations they are trying to keep safe.

The HiveWatch GSOC Operating System (OS) was built for security operations center operators to make their jobs more streamlined and efficient.

It is an end-to-end security operations management platform that enhances corporate physical security, simplifies and centralizes disparate systems, streamlines operations and enables data-driven decisions.

Users of the platform are able to manage every step of their security operations, including detection, triage, response, field communications and response, and investigations – enabling them to be more proactive.

There is also an AI component, the AI Operator, that intelligently detects and responds to security incidents in accordance with security protocols – to verify alarms, review camera footage, add notes to incidents, dispatch operators, resolve incidents and escalate high-priority events.

Together, security can be more proactive as the centralized triage, management and resolution of events can be handled in a singular platform.

How will the company grow in the next 12 months?

Internally, HiveWatch is focused on ensuring that our product is meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers.

As a start-up, we have the ability to work side-by-side as partners with our customers and listen to how they’re using our platform, what’s working and what they wish was a part of the technology.

We’ve created a team that is constantly innovating, pushing out updates every two weeks and improving on what we’ve built.

Across the industry, we’re developing a strong partner ecosystem through technology integrations and channel partnerships that is opening up new opportunities for growth.

And of course, as we continue to scale our business and operations, we do so with a focus on partnership with our customers and prospects.

HiveWatch will be present at the SJA Leaders in Security Conference. What are you most excited about for the event?

We’re excited to participate in this leadership-focused security event and continue building the valuable relationships we’ve established throughout the industry.

Beyond the formal sessions, we gain tremendous insight from face-to-face conversations about the evolving security landscape.

I’m particularly interested in discovering how other leaders are successfully growing their teams and adapting to new challenges, what significant obstacles they’re encountering in today’s environment and the innovative strategies they’re implementing to ensure long-term success in this field that seems to be changing by the day.
