i-PRO has announced the latest version of its Active Guard intelligent search application, Active Guard 2.0.

Active Guard ensures that metadata describing the unique attributes of humans and vehicles is captured by i-PRO cameras.

This data is then delivered to video management systems (VMS) from Milestone, Genetec and other recognizable companies.

The deep forensic search from edge-based AI analytics enables real-time notifications for operators of essential events that require attention.

Active Guard 2.0 includes new enhancements for data search and visualization.

An open platform approach

Gerard Figols, Chief Product Officer, i-PRO commented: “The Active Guard plug-in was developed to seamlessly deliver i-PRO’s 98 unique AI attributes captured in our cameras into the industry’s leading VMS to make security operators’ lives easier.”

He added: “Active Guard is unique in its ability to notify and incorporate metadata from third parties directly into the workflow, expanding and fully adopting our open platform approach.

“The plugin builds a bridge between applications, cameras and the VMS for an integrated end-to-end AI ecosystem.”

Enhancements of Active Guard 2.0

A significant enhancement in Active Guard version 2.0 is a strengthened integration with Vaxtor, the company that developed the Optical Character Recognition.

In addition to Vaxtor’s LPR/MMC application for identifying license plates and vehicle attributes, operators can also utilize search filters for Vaxtor’s OCR Container and OCR Genesis apps that can recognize all types of text including shipping containers, ID cards, passports, shipping labels and more.

Third-party integration from Morpho can develop AI fall-detection analytics that can now be passed via Active Guard to the VMS.

“Bringing significant value to our partners and customers”

Figols later commented: “This native integration of Vaxtor and Morpho demonstrates i-PRO‘s commitment to making our edge-AI hardware open to customization for applications outside of traditional security, collaborating intensely with innovative software development companies in the market.”

Juan Vercher, CEO, Vaxtor stated: Active Guard’s evolution enhances the capacities and improves the operational efficiency of all our analytics.”

He continued: “We deeply value i-PRO’s dedication to developing tailored integrations, advancing and enhancing intelligent data management and bringing significant value to our partners and customers.”

Features of Active Guard V2

  • Timeline search

This feature allows operators to track people, vehicles or objects of interest across multiple cameras.

It enables a comprehensive display of the object’s route across camera zones over time.

  • Enhanced features for Genetec/Milestone plugin

By adding alarm integration features to both the Genetec and Milestone VMS integration, i-PRO has enhanced its user experience by indicating alarm events with images and attributes.

  • Expanded usage of dashboard features

Enhanced graphing tools enable features like counting people in multiple entrances and pathways.

Users can generate separate graphs for each counting line or merge data from different cameras including combining counts from two entrances into one graph.

This flexibility in aggregating and graphing data provides more accurate insights into the flow of people in spaces like terminals or building halls, where movement occurs in multiple directions.

Technology at the edge

Many systems rely on server-based analytics whereas i-PRO’s AI-enabled analytics are processed fully at the edge, in-camera.

This makes efficient use of processing power and bandwidth while minimizing the need for additional server hardware.

By analyzing raw data directly at the sensor instead of using encoded data allows the approach to deliver accuracy and to generate detailed insights that enable more informed decision-making.

Active Guard represents innovative video protection that processes and transfers data that is generated by the cameras to a VMS meaning only the metadata is transferred and not the entire video stream.

The Active Guard dashboard UI appears within the VMS for unified user experience when visualizing and searching for unique attributes.

i-PRO’s Active Guard application is free of charge and version 2.0 will be available at the end of September 2024.
