Stephen Litton, Director of Sales US and Canada, VIVOTEK USA explores how the cloud and AI converge to prevent incidents, protect workers and build resilient operations.

Can you tell me about your role and what you do?

My name is Stephen Litton and I serve as the Director of Sales for North America at VIVOTEK. While my role is rooted in driving revenue growth in this region, it extends far beyond sales targets.

I’m focused on equipping our teams and partners with the strategies, resources and insights they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving security landscape.

My priority is to help our ecosystem from distributors to integrators embrace solutions that deliver value; not only in security but in broader business outcomes.

That means bridging the gap between legacy systems and next-generation platforms, introducing partners to hybrid and cloud technologies and showing them how edge AI can open up opportunities for sustainability and new revenue models.

Ultimately, my responsibility is to ensure that VIVOTEK is not just meeting market demands, but setting the standard for how technology can deliver greater value, resilience, and business outcomes.

What is the significance of hybrid cloud and edge AI to the security industry?

Many companies still rely on traditional video surveillance systems, with data stored on-premise.

However, the future is cloud-driven and the challenge we have right now is to navigate how to bridge that gap, without disrupting operations.

Our hybrid cloud solution, VIVOTEK VORTEX, helps organizations move to the cloud on their terms, while still keeping their operations running.

We provide businesses with a practical route to modernization, while protecting their existing infrastructure.

It also helps organizations to be smarter and more efficient by processing data at the edge.

Organizations can lower their power consumption, optimize connectivity and reduce environmental footprints while still achieving the powerful insight and capabilities of edge AI.

How can these technologies bring a range of benefits to the security industry?

VIVOTEK combines Edge AI with cloud-based solutions to form a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) platform, enabling real-time intelligence at the device level and seamless centralized management.

At the core, VORTEX AI Hub integrates these technologies, turning surveillance into actionable insights.

Through VORTEX, security teams can use AI-powered search for incident management, making it easier to navigate systems beyond surveillance.

It offers features like attribute, license plate, facial, PPE detection, etc.

These tools showcase how a surveillance system can evolve for compliance, operational intelligence and safety purposes.

You can also accelerate investigations with quicker decision making. For example, this can allow you to dispatch police, fire or paramedics if there is an emergency much more rapidly.

Users can additionally leverage advanced machine learning capabilities for real-time monitoring and post-event analysis and intelligence decision making.

Another critical advantage is our openness to the broader ecosystem. We recognize that most organizations already have investments in video management systems (VMS), analytics tools and network infrastructure.

Our solutions are ONVIF-conformant and designed to integrate seamlessly with third-party platforms.

Whether it’s tying into existing VMS environments, connecting with access control systems, or layering on specialized analytics, we ensure that customers aren’t locked into a single path.

This flexibility allows businesses to maximize their current technology while still adopting hybrid cloud and AI-driven capabilities at their own pace.

What are some of the key themes you will be covering in your upcoming SJA webinar?

The key highlight of our webinar is to showcase where the market is headed and how businesses can prepare.

There are several themes that stand out in this area – one of which is shifting priorities for security.

As I mentioned earlier, the era of surveillance being viewed solely as a tool for safety and security has evolved.

Today, organizations want solutions that help them serve customers better, create efficiencies and even generate revenue.

Security infrastructure is being redefined as a tool for enhancing business operations.

We’re also going to be covering how to move to the cloud without disrupting your operations, by using a platform that has the ability to migrate seamlessly to the cloud.

Lastly, we will highlight the VIVOTEK Premium Partner Program (VPP), which goes beyond discounts and incentives.

This is designed to help partners be more proactive in monitoring the system’s health, streamlining services and unlocking new ways to grow their business.

What are the key takeaways you would like webinar attendees to have?

The biggest message we will be delivering will be in the physical security world itself.

We want everyone to know that it’s possible to transition from being focused on more reactive protection to proactive business enablement.

Attendees should walk away with revenue opportunities beyond security, as security systems can now support recurrent revenue models.

VORTEX allows security teams to conduct predicative maintenance and better customer service.

Partners can monitor device health, anticipate failures and use those insights to deliver new services.

The second key area to add is a practical path to cloud migration.

Moving fully to the cloud doesn’t have to be a leap.

A lot of people think that you just have to go to the cloud right away – absolutely not. That’s where VIVOTEK and VORTEX come in.

This provides security with a hybrid cloud solution that allows you to scale and grow into the cloud at your own pace.

Lastly, we believe in sustainability and intelligence at the edge because it delivers smarter analytics while consuming less power bandwidth.

This means businesses can meet sustainability goals with future-proofing their infrastructure and advanced capabilities.

In short, we want attendees to see that physical security is no longer just a cost center.

With the right technologies and strategies, it can become a growth engine that supports efficiencies, customer satisfaction and ultimately long-term business resilience.

What does the future look like for hybrid cloud and edge AI – how will these technologies continue to adapt to evolving needs?

These technologies can be utilized not just for protecting people, but also to improve business operations.

They have the capability for early warning detection, while migrating them to technologies that are continually advancing.

Time is of the essence in the marketplace and the ability to react to an incident are of the utmost importance to our customer base.

Do you have any other comments?
