Tácito Augusto Silva Leite, CEO and Founder, t-Risk tells Security Journal Americas how innovative AI platforms can enhance organizational resilience and risk management.

Can you tell me about yourself and your role?

My name is Tácito Augusto Silva Leite and I have over 30 years of experience in risk management, corporate security and information security.

I am the Founder and CEO of t-Risk, a SaaS platform that transforms organizational risk management through specialized solutions, AI and full alignment with international standards such as ISO 31000 and ISO 31050.

My academic background includes a Master’s in Risk Management from EALDE Business School and UCAM (Spain), an MBA and two postgraduate degrees in Corporate Security, Information Systems and Defense Resource Management.

I also hold international certifications such as C31000, DSE and ASE, and I am the author of the book Risk Management in Corporate Security (2016).

I have completed advanced training at institutions such as the Brazilian Superior School of War and Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Spain.

At t-Risk, beyond my executive role, I lead the development of several key modules – including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Preliminary Risk Assessment (PRA), Background Check (MBC), Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and Risk Management Maturity Assessment (MMA) – all integrated with a multilingual AI system serving companies across Latin America.

I also serve as a board member at ABSEG (Brazilian Association of Security Professionals), teach postgraduate courses and act as Vice Director of the Security Tech Vertical at ACATE, a leading innovation ecosystem in Brazil.

My mission is to promote a more mature, strategic and technology-driven approach to risk management.

What are some of the main challenges facing corporate security professionals at the moment?

Corporate security professionals are undergoing a profound transformation in risk management.

Today’s environment is defined by dynamic, interconnected and increasingly unpredictable threats, demanding a more strategic, multidisciplinary and data-driven approach.

One of the main challenges facing risk management is the integration of security into organizational decision-making.

It is still common to see departments such as physical security, cybersecurity, compliance and business continuity operating in silos, which hinders the development of a holistic risk perspective.

The lack of a shared language and unified indicators weakens communication with senior leadership, reducing the likelihood of securing critical investments.

Another pressing issue is the acceleration of technological change and the emergence of new threats.

Technologies such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), drones and automation deliver efficiency but also increase the attack surface and introduce new regulatory, ethical and reputational risks.

Addressing this landscape requires continuous learning and closer collaboration with legal and governance teams.

Reputation management has also become a vital element.

In a hyper-transparent world, even well-managed incidents can have significant consequences if not communicated properly.

The ability to translate operational risks into strategic metrics understood by the C-suite is now a critical skill.

There is also a growing shortage of qualified professionals.

Talent with expertise in integrated risk management, data analysis, cybersecurity and the ethical use of technology is in high demand.

The sector faces high turnover and must invest urgently in workforce upskilling.

Lastly, regulatory fragmentation across the Americas poses a challenge for multinational operations.

In this context, security leaders must develop adaptable, interoperable and resilient models aligned with international standards such as ISO, COSO, the Three Lines model and guidelines from organizations like ASIS and ABSEG.

Despite the complexity, this is also a fertile moment for innovation.

Professionals who can align risk, technology and strategic communication will play a vital role in building more resilient and sustainable organizations.

How is the advancement of AI aiding security professionals?

AI has become one of the key drivers of innovation in corporate security.

While its adoption is still in the early stages for many organizations, AI is already proving its value by processing large volumes of data, identifying patterns and supporting fast, informed decision-making – provided it is used responsibly, under human supervision and in alignment with regulatory standards.

In physical security, AI contributes by analyzing video footage to detect unusual movements and behavior, and by automating license plate recognition to enhance access control.

In cybersecurity, it plays a critical role in early detection of intrusions and suspicious digital activity, significantly reducing response times to potential threats.

AI is also improving the efficiency of third-party due diligence, using public data sources to assess companies and suppliers.

This helps mitigate reputational and regulatory risks, especially in high-compliance and ESG-sensitive environments.

Furthermore, generative models and specialized chatbots are being used to support technical teams in planning, training and risk scenario simulations – fostering greater autonomy and continuous learning across security departments.

However, the use of AI requires clear ethical and operational criteria.

In sensitive contexts – such as facial recognition in public spaces or behavioral analysis in corporate environments – AI applications should undergo formal risk assessments.

In summary, AI delivers significant benefits to the security field, but its use must be ethical, transparent and supervised.

Human oversight remains essential to ensure that technology serves as an ally – not a liability – in protecting organizations.

What are you most proud of with this launch?

What makes me most proud about the launch of t-Risk Vision Pro is seeing the realization of a vision that has been built over many years: to develop an AI solution that is ethical, secure and genuinely useful for security and risk management professionals.

While many AI systems today operate as opaque “black boxes” fueled by external data, we chose a different path – creating a controlled environment, trained with high-quality technical content and overseen entirely by the t-Risk team.

This achievement goes far beyond technical innovation.

It was the result of a collective and multidisciplinary effort, involving experts in risk, security, compliance and information technology.

The outcome is a robust and reliable tool that has already been validated through practical use by our clients.

I’m also deeply proud that this innovation was developed entirely in Brazil, powered by local talent, yet fully aligned with global standards.

It proves that we can lead digital transformation in the security sector with both responsibility and regional relevance.
