Scott Ortolani, Chief Operations Officer at LINEV Systems US discusses the company’s plans for this year and what sets them apart.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

I have just celebrated nine years at LINEV Systems and have worked in the checkpoint security industry for over 20 years.

After serving the US Navy as an Aviation Technician, my career began on the service side of the industry, as a Field Service Engineer before eventually moving into sales and ultimately onto overall operations and general management.

What are LINEV’s plans for this year?

We have a core business that we’re very passionate about, which is corrections, but we are looking at other vertical markets where our competencies can be leveraged. We also have very aggressive growth goals for the Americas. The US market is the largest in the world for checkpoint security, however the Central and South American markets are continuing to develop and we are well positioned for that growth.

We have some really exciting new products in the non-destructive testing (NDT) space, which has tremendous potential. Some of the products that we’re working to bring to market have a positive environmental impact and so not only do we have a passion and pride for keeping people safe, but now it’s also helping to keep the planet safe.

Are you going to be expanding your product portfolio this year?

Over the course of my nine-year tenure, we have added one to two new products a year and in 2023, we’ll see at least three major new additions to our portfolio. In our core business of screening solutions focused on the correctional market, we have some new technology that is more capable, faster and smaller than the offerings from our competitors.

As a high-tech innovative company, the best thing you can do is listen to your clients. That leads to solutions that the market will receive really well. Some of our most disruptive and creative ideas have come from our clients’ wish list.

What makes LINEV unique?

Our agility is a particular standout attribute of LINEV Systems. There are a lot of companies out there that are much bigger than we are, but they then find it difficult to react quickly to market trends and customer needs.

We have ample resources, which positions us very well to rapidly innovate solutions and bring those to market fully tested and ready to be deployed in a far shorter amount of time.

What values define LINEV?

We have a philosophy of not staying stagnant and we want to continue to push the boundaries of what can be realized in terms of technology as well as results that benefit our customers.

We also have another little bit of magic here – better communication. Through that, we’ve managed to get everybody focused on a common mission and I think that’s what drives our success.

In any industry, you can have the best solution or invention, but if you can’t back it up with good customer service, then you’re ultimately going to fall short. Innovative new products which are backed by one of the most dedicated and capable service departments in the world are what I think have lead to our growth and our trajectory.
