Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) has signed an agreement with the Latin American and Caribbean Council for Civil Registry, Identity and Vital Statistics (CLARCIEV) and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) to facilitate the dissemination of MOSIP in CLARCIEV’s member countries and work towards building a robust local ecosystem of digital identity infrastructure.

MOSIP says its primary mission is to provide legal identity for all. With modular architecture, configurability and privacy by design, MOSIP enables countries to build digital foundational ID systems customized to their specific needs.

Founded in 2005, CLARCIEV brings together civil registry institutions and provides a space for sharing knowledge and good practices in the processes of legal registration and identification.

Both parties will collaborate to create awareness about the advantages of a digital foundational identity among policy-makers, leaders and public officials in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

“The signing of this MoU represents the beginning of a synergistic relationship between MOSIP and CLARCIEV; one that we are proud to have forged together,” said Professor S. Rajagopalan, President of MOSIP. “The team at MOSIP is set to extend all possible support in ensuring that leaders of change in Latin America and the Caribbean, responsible for digital transformation, are equipped with a deep understanding of the technology involved.”

“CLARCIEV is committed to supporting and promoting the right to identity in its member countries,” said President of CLARCIEV, Jorge Leonel Wheatley Fernández. “With the common goal of fulfilling the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we are pleased to sign this MoU and engage in awareness building work for national digital ID. CLARCIEV looks forward to embarking on this journey through MOSIP’s expertise and collaboration.”
