Liberty Defense has revealed that its HEXWAVE detection solution will undergo operational tests and evaluation at the Port of Oakland in California, at the international airport facilities.
The Port of Oakland, located in the San Francisco Bay area, oversees the Oakland International Airport, the Oakland Seaport and nearly 20 miles of waterfront commercial holdings.
Security screening
According to the company, the National Safe Skies Alliance (Safe Skies), an independent third-party, non-profit organization funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will conduct thorough testing of the security systems’ detection capabilities, reliability and maintainability under active airport operational and environmental conditions.
Safe Skies performs its evaluations under an ISO 9001:2015-approved Quality Management System.
Threat detection solution
Liberty’s HEXWAVE product, a walkthrough, contactless threat detection solution for concealed non-metallic and metallic objects, uses AI to provide automated decisions to security operators to process people at speed.
“We are looking forward to partnering with Safe Skies and Port of Oakland on this important initiative,” said Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense.
“There is a growing demand for the screening of aviation workers and we share the same goal as Safe Skies and the Port of enhancing the security operations with next generation screening technology.Â
“As airports continue to look at improving screening protocols, the HEXWAVE technology offers a flexible, proven solution that can be quickly deployed and relocated to multiple areas inside and outside of facilities.”
