Milestone Systems has advanced its enterprise-level video technology with its latest product update, XProtect 2023 R1.
According to the company, this update enhances previous XProtect video management software (VMS) innovations to provide an easy-to-use, integrated and powerful user experience.
The R1 update for XProtect improves upon the core needs of VMS users, providing reliable, powerful and easy-to-manage open platform solutions that offer flexibility and security to meet all integrated data-driven video management requirements, Milestone says. With several enhancements to the user experience and system performance, including operator collaboration tools and installation pre-check efficiencies, the 2023 R1 update is a highly recommended software upgrade for all XProtect users.
The company highlights that the 2023 R1 software update offers significant enrichments to the user experience, operator collaboration and situational awareness. This includes UX renewals in both the Smart Client and Web Client interfaces. With better navigation, users can access and manage their video data with greater ease and efficiency. Operator collaboration tools have been enhanced through features such as Bookmarks Sharing, Background Picture in Picture and Native Screenshots in the Mobile Clients.
Furthermore, 2023 R1 includes more situational awareness capabilities with Smart Maps in the Mobile clients. Milestone highlights that this feature provides operators with a map-based overview of cameras and devices, enabling faster response times.
The Background Picture in Picture feature allows operators to keep an eye on a particular camera while performing other tasks, ensuring continuous situational awareness. Additionally, Native Screenshots in the Mobile Clients provide operators with a quick and easy way to capture and share video stills, improving collaboration and communication between team members.
Milestone adds that the software update includes a better installation experience, such as the availability of a system prerequisite check, SQL Database backups and faster installation times. With XProtect 2023 R1, rules in Management Client now support the webhooks action, the company says. This allows users to create a webhook item in Management Client with the URL from any third party service and then set up a rule in XProtect to trigger it when an event happens. With webhooks, administrators can integrate with codeless platforms such as Zapier or IFTTT. It is simple to transform events happening in XProtect to SMS messages, calls, new tickets, Team messages or even blinking lights.
