This strategic alliance combines Wavesight’s expertise in advanced networking hardware with Wind Talker’s Osmosis software, creating a powerful symbiosis that promises to reshape the wireless communication landscape.

The joint efforts of Wavesight and Wind Talker aim to harness their technological advancements to meet the escalating demand for reliable and affordable internet connectivity in both unserved and underserved areas.

To this end, Wind Talker has taken on the role of master reseller, facilitating the distribution of Wavesight fixed wireless and other equipment in the US market through reseller and other collaborative channels and partnerships.

“This partnership provides the opportunity to deploy Osmosis-enabled equipment to better assist network and service providers.

“Working with Wavesight and our partners, we will collaboratively develop solutions to meet the needs of the marketplace to advance connectivity to the unserved and underserved communities,” said Brandon Craig, CEO of Wind Talker Innovations.

Wind Talker’s proprietary Osmosis software is at the heart of this transformative partnership. Osmosis is a technology that transcends traditional mesh networking limitations.

By seamlessly integrating with Wavesight’s hardware, Osmosis unlocks a suite of unparalleled functionalities, streamlining network operations and delivering reliability, scalability and efficiency.

Osmosis represents a radical departure from conventional mesh technology, offering a revolutionary approach to wireless networking.

Unlike traditional systems that rely on manual interventions for configuration updates and operate with a single internet gateway, Osmosis empowers all enabled devices to autonomously establish connections with each other and aggregate internet gateways.

This dynamic, self-configuring architecture eliminates potential single points of failure, ensuring seamless communication even with device or gateway failures.

Dynamic optimized path selection is a hallmark of Osmosis.

It ensures that data packets traverse the most efficient routes, minimizing latency and optimizing network performance.

By intelligently aggregating backhaul within the network, Osmosis introduces new levels of resiliency and redundancy, safeguarding against service disruptions and costly downtime.

Osmosis also extends its capabilities beyond traditional networking boundaries, supporting device communication pathways even in off-grid scenarios.

This groundbreaking functionality enables edge computing and content delivery to flourish, reducing reliance on backhaul infrastructure and opening new opportunities for providers to offer meaningful services in rural and remote areas with limited broadband capacities.

Addressing key marketplace challenges

The integration of Wind Talker’s Osmosis software with Wavesight’s hardware addresses several critical challenges faced by communications technology integrators, operators and service providers:

  1. Simplified installation: traditional network deployments and expansions often involve complex configuration processes, resulting in considerable time and financial investments. Osmosis transcends these limitations by enabling devices to auto-discover and auto-configure themselves within the network. This revolutionary capability dramatically reduces the expense, time and specialized expertise required, simplifying the installation process and minimizing the need for highly trained technical personnel. Unboxing and pre-configuration of equipment become obsolete; personnel can swiftly complete installations without needing experienced staff. Wireless meshing eliminates the need for direct wired connections to all devices, reducing trenching and cabling costs
  2. Scalability: Osmosis is renowned for seamlessly integrating new devices into the network. Once powered up, devices automatically configure and join the network. Roll-out times are reduced and deployments can be completed with less experienced staff, resulting in substantial cost savings
  3. Congestion management: Osmosis ensures efficient utilization of network resources through dynamic traffic distribution, mitigating bottlenecks and ensuring optimal performance even during surges in data traffic
  4. Resiliency: Osmosis’s self-healing architecture prevents downtime by maintaining service continuity through the utilization of multiple redundant data paths, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity
  5. Security: Osmosis incorporates multi-layer security tunnels, supporting the highest encryption requirements, including WPA3 SAE CCMP encryption. The graph-based communication model inherently eliminates traditional points of vulnerability, mitigating the risk of breaches
  6. Mobility support: Osmosis’ robust mobile and ad-hoc connectivity options enable seamless communication for users on the move, a critical functionality as network requirements for smart city initiatives, security and other applications continue to grow in both size and scope
  7. Simplified management: Wavesight’s bundling of both equipment and device management streamlines operations, minimizing the task of integrating hardware solutions from multiple sources
  8. Off-grid functionality: Supporting off-grid communication pathways enables edge content and computing to thrive without conventional internet infrastructure connectivity

By addressing these challenges, the partnership delivers cost-effective, reliable network systems that reduce capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenses (OpEx).

Hardware solutions

Wavesight’s initial offerings for the US market include 6GHz Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) solutions from the Scorpion and Firefly model ranges, the DragonFly series of outdoor and indoor WiFi 6 Access Points and the Hawk range of LTE U band eNodeBs and Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs).

Solution applications

Wavesight has deployed powerful DragonFly WiFi access points in numerous use cases worldwide. With the latest WiFi 6 technology and Osmosis integration, new opportunities arise.

These low-latency, high-powered and capable devices excel in both indoor and outdoor deployments, including community/municipal areas, parks, outdoor retail spaces, campgrounds, marinas, stadiums, commercial spaces, shops, concert venues, golf courses, hotels, conference centers, public transportation hubs and airports, among others.

A recent Tribal Ready deployment in a remote Alaskan village showcased the capabilities of this integrated solution.

Using two low-earth orbit satellite internet sources as gateways, community WiFi was provided to an area of approximately 50 acres in addition to direct service to several structures using Wavesight’s DragonFly devices and FireFly 6GHz PtP/PtMP devices.

Internet backhaul was shared wirelessly throughout the network, eliminating the need for direct wired connections to all devices except power.

Specific access points functioned as receivers and transmitters, receiving signals wirelessly and enabling wired building connectivity indoors from the outdoor access points.

Auto-discovery, auto-configuration and self-healing capabilities benefited this project immensely.

Once devices were mounted and powered, Osmosis simplified and automated the rest.

Osmosis’ self-healing properties were displayed when the simple management platform detected a node had lost power as network data pathways were automatically re-routed maintaining connectivity without service loss during the outage.

This represents an improvement in resiliency not experienced in traditional networks.

Once power to the node was restored, the device automatically re-configured and re-connected to the network.

As integration incorporates the entirety of the Wavesight product catalog, opportunities to reimagine more efficient, resilient and capable network utilization for smart city tools and other internet of things (IoT) initiatives will emerge.
