TKH Security has announced that the City of Sacramento, California is upgrading one of its key downtown parking garages with a smart parking guidance system.
The company’s Park Assist Solution will be used in the Memorial Garage – a ten-story facility with over 1,100 spaces that supports daily commuters, local businesses and event-goers.
According to TKH Security, this enhancement is an investment in public safety, improved traffic flow and a smarter urban experience.
“This project is about more than convenience – it’s about making our public facilities safer and more accessible,” said Staci Hovermale, Parking Manager for the City of Sacramento.
“By incorporating smart parking technology, we’re not only improving the day-to-day experience for drivers, but we’re also enhancing traffic flow, reducing frustration and creating a safer environment for everyone who uses this space.”
The company says that at the heart of the smart parking upgrade is the M5 smart sensor, a camera-based solution featuring two CMOS digital cameras per unit.
Each sensor monitors up to six spaces (three on each side) with more than 99% accuracy.
By significantly reducing the time needed to find a space – up to 63% – the system eases congestion and minimizes the risk of low-speed collisions.
The M5’s customizable full-spectrum LED indicators also improve visibility and user guidance.
These indicators can display different colors to denote ADA-accessible spaces, electric vehicle spots and space availability, enabling safer and faster decision-making for drivers.
TKH Security highlights that key features of the smart parking solution include:
“This project represents an exciting opportunity to partner with a city that values innovation and forward-thinking solutions,” said Kevin Austin, Regional Sales Director, West Coast, TKH Security.
