Matt Powell, Managing Director, North America, ISS explains the company’s plans for 2023 and what differentiates their solutions in the market.

What are your plans for 2023?

Over the past six months, we have totally revamped our approach to the North American market. Not only have we brought in three new Regional Business Managers and a new Director of Marketing for the region, but we have also repositioned existing personnel to be able to sufficiently address the needs of the market as we continue to grow. In 2023, you can expect to see ISS continue to expand throughout North America and for our solutions to become a more prevalent fixture in video surveillance deployments across a wide range of verticals.

Can you tell us about your solutions?

For years, ISS has been seen predominantly as a provider of video management software (VMS) with some analytics mixed in here and there – however, this is huge misconception. Rather, we are primarily a developer of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered video analytic solutions that also offers a video management module. That’s not to say our video management platform is lightweight by any means; in fact, it offers the same level or better search and archiving functionality as many other solutions out there, but what makes us different is our ability to provide advanced analytic capabilities that go well beyond that of traditional VMS suppliers.

Our analytics, which can be used for broad, common applications, such as LRR/ANPR and facial recognition, as well as more narrowly tailored implementations like helmet or hand-sanitizing detection, are also not tethered to ours or any other specific VMS product on the market as they can be deployed to meet the unique requirements of end users on an individual basis. We also offer a variety of combinations hardware-software products for specific use cases, such as our SecurOS UVSS (Under Vehicle Surveillance System) that is used to scan the undercarriage of vehicles for explosives and contraband or our SecurOS Soffit solution that uses a combination of analytics and dynamic illumination to safely escort pedestrians across dimly lit crosswalks.

What differentiates you from other providers?

While there have been several new entrants to the video analytics space in recent years, one thing that separates us from the pack is our pedigree. Established in 1996, ISS has been at the forefront of developing cutting-edge, high-trust analytic technologies for more than 25 years and we have more than 20 different patents and trademarks to show for it. With such vast experience and a global team consisting of more than 180 developers and engineers, we know the unique pain points of the market and can deliver custom solutions to address real world challenges versus many of the cookie-cutter offerings available today.

How will you expand your product portfolio in the next 12 months?

There are numerous use cases we have identified where our technology would be optimal fit and we are working to develop more solutions for those specific use cases that should be ready to deploy in 2023. Some of these will likely be around Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) as more “Smart City” projects come online, while still others will be focused on more traditional physical security applications. Either way, our footprint from both a product and geographic standpoint will continue to grow over the next year.
