According to new reports, ten people have been killed and 38 wounded as a result of mass shootings in Fort Worth, Philadelphia and Baltimore ahead of the Fourth of July.

Violence across the US

As outlined in Reuters, three people were killed and eight wounded in a shooting in Fort Worth, Texas that occurred just before midnight on 3 July. The attack took place after a local festival to mark Independence Day, police said.

In another mass shooting that took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the evening of 3 July, five people were killed and two were wounded. Victims include a two-year-old boy and 13-year-old boy, both of whom were shot in the legs. Local police say that the suspect, wearing body armor, opened fire on strangers with an AR-15.

On 2 July, two people were fatally shot and 28 were injured – about half of them children – following an attack at a neighborhood block party in Baltimore, Maryland.

The news outlet highlights that the suspect motives in all three shootings remain unclear.

“Senseless shootings”

In a statement, US President Joe Biden responded to the mass shootings, saying that: “Our nation has once again endured a wave of tragic and senseless shootings.”
