The Modern Corporate Security Organization – Tim Wenzel

The security industry is full of old, tired mindsets and beliefs which no longer serve us.

Maybe they never served us, it was just the easiest way to explain our lack and frustration.

Many of these mindsets literally communicate to the organizations we serve: “We offer no value to you whatsoever.”

Tim Wenzel is going to tell the story of corporate security, help you understand the genesis of The Insecurity in Security and build the new value proposition of the modern security organization.

If you’ve ever wondered why you “can’t get your seat at the table” or you don’t understand the simmering anxiety you feel every time you have an important meeting, this presentation will change you and help you see your value in the corporate structure.

The Birth Pains of Risk – Tim Wenzel, Kasia Hanson and Lee Oughton

When is risk born?

Managing enterprise risk is like co-parenting with lots of interesting and sometimes dysfunctional partners.

How do you manage the birth and initial management of new risk in your organization?

What happens when that moment of weakness or careless decision created risk that you’re just finding out about years later?

How should we handle organizational and leadership changes when we end up with a red headed risk child?

Tim Wenzel, Lee Oughton and Kasia Hanson are going to talk about all these issues and more to help you understand the birth pains of risk.

IPSB Close Protection Conference in Nashville

IPSB Close Protection Conference will be taking place in Nashville, Tennessee on 9 – 11 December.

The Insecurity in Security, Tim Wenzel

Tim Wenzel coined this term in 2017 to refer to the often paralyzing anxiety which largely defines the private security industry and the toxicity which permeates leadership.

In 2021, he began to talk in depth about this issue on podcasts and drew the industry’s attention to the leadership deficit we suffer under.

In 2023, Mark Ledlow’s The Fearless Mindset podcast dedicated over 90 minutes to this topic which made Tim its most requested and aired guest over the following year.

In 2024, Tim wrote The Insecurity in Security series for SJA to codify some of the issues and remedies for the industry and at the Close Protection Conference, Tim will present this phenomena to the EP industry with the hopes changing the way we understand our career path and our leadership tool box in security forever.

In Tim’s opinion, this is the most universal, pervasive dysfunction in the security industry that most people have never thought to reflect on.
