The email addresses of more than 200 million Twitter users were obtained by hackers and posted on an online forum, according to new reports.

As outlined in Reuters, Twitter has not yet commented on the report or responded to inquiries about the breach that was posted about on 24 December by Alon Gal, Co-Founder of cybersecurity-monitoring firm Hudson Rock.

The news outlet highlights that it could not independently verify the data on the forum was authentic and came from the social media site.

There is currently no indication as to the identity or location of the hacker(s) responsible for the breach and the report says that it may have taken place as early as 2021.
