Following a successful pilot in 2020, York Regional Police has continued its partnership with Versaterm to utilize the company’s SPIDR Tech platform, to enhance communications with the public.
York Regional Police says that the reason behind the implementation is being able to send out customized messages and surveys to the community along with the ability to turn the capability on and off.
The preliminary program focused on four call and crime types with three customized messages for acknowledgement of a call, delay in officer arrival and a mini survey.
After the success of the pilot project, the agency implemented SPIDR Tech platform’s Patrol, Investigation, and Insights features.
Since March 2020, York Regional Police has sent:
York Regional Police reports it can now communicate with community members more quickly and efficiently by sending out automated alerts and updates almost instantly via mobile devices.
SPIDR Tech helps the agency provide crime prevention tips to callers or victims without the need for traditional paper formats.
Another benefit, according to the company, is the easy access to case status information online that provides crime victims peace of mind during the investigation process.
