Telxius, a digital telecommunications infrastructure operator, has installed two new scrubbing centers in Latin America to strengthen protection against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on its network.

According to the company, the new mitigation centers are strategically located, one in Lurín, Peru and the other in Santos, Brazil to boost the mitigation capacity of its anti-DDoS service.

These two scrubbing centers add to Telxius’ existing mitigators in US and Europe and take advantage of the company’s low-latency high-availability submarine cable infrastructure for traffic handling.

“Our customers will benefit from advanced DDoS protection and an increased overall mitigation capacity of the service. Latencies will also improve significantly in the delivery of scrubbed traffic in certain regions of South America due to the strategic location of the mitigators, one on each coast of the continent,” said Mónica Martínez, CMO at Telxius.

Telxius says that this new development adds to the security services and infrastructure that it provides in Latin America over its network of high capacity of fiber optic sub-sea cables, powering the region to meet the needs of enterprises and people while participating in today’s global digital economy.

The Telxius network spans over 82,000km of high-capacity fiber-optic submarine cables, including seven next-generation systems, five of them in Latin America. Telxius also has a Tier-1 international IP network (AS 12956) offering direct internet connectivity to major carriers and ISPs, with a capacity of more than 20 Tbps plus a wide-ranging portfolio of capacity, co-location and security services across the globe.
