Jim Lee, President of JLM Wholesale explores why the company’s various offerings are advantageous to the industry.

Could you tell us about JLM Wholesale?

JLM Wholesale has over 100 years of experience in the hardware and security industry, with its origins in Detroit, Michigan. The company is a woman-owned, family business with three locations in Michigan, North Carolina and Texas.

Many of the employees at JLM Wholesale have decades of experience in the industry and most of that time has been spent as employees of JLM Wholesale. We have strict policies on whom we sell to; we do not sell to general contractors, end users or the general public.

We also do not believe in competing with our customer base for business within the security industry – we sell only to security integrators and installers, locksmiths and hardware door professionals.

What type of products do you offer the industry?

JLM Wholesale has three stocked warehouses and the ability to obtain just about any product to secure a commercial door opening. We are heavily stocked in electronic exit devices, electromagnetic locks, power supplies, electric strikes and electrified cylindrical and mortise lock sets.

We have products for delayed egress applications, power transfers and products to modify mechanical hardware to meet remote release as stated before. Most important is our collective knowledge and expertise, obtained through years of industry experience and which is not found in most other wholesale companies.

What are your strengths in the security industry?

Our strengths are built on knowledge, technical support, a large inventory and superb customer service. We are very well versed in electronic locking hardware and mechanical alike. For example, we may suggest modifications to existing mechanical hardware as the most cost-effective way to meet specification requirements. In other cases, we will recommend a complete replacement of existing door hardware.

We analyze each security hardware project for cost effectiveness, ease of installation and application viability. Our sales technicians have a wealth of knowledge on thousands of products from many manufacturers and consistently stay up-to-date on industry trends and standards. We are happy to quote and sell security hardware for one or multiple openings.

What are JLM Wholesale’s plans for the future?

We have been working to stay at the forefront of technological advancement. Recently, we updated our website, www.jlmwholesale.com, making it much easier to gather templates, cut sheets and submittal information. Also introduced is our “Send us a text!” feature.

While on a job site or at the office, our customers can send a text to “423-JLM-HELP” with pictures and questions. Our sales technicians monitor inbound texts and respond almost immediately, helping to identify hardware or offer optimal solutions to the openings in question.

JLM Wholesale will always continue to search for ways to improve overall service to our customers.
